Paintings 'En Plein Air'

I am always saying to people how my paintings are about a feeling, an emotional response to the landscape - capturing the moment and essence of a place and I believe that can only be done by painting on location. I know I need to get out more!! I walk a fair amount and I’m often thinking I should have brought my easel with me!

I am attempting to paint outdoors or ‘en plein air’ at least once a week and produce a body of work on Saunders Waterford 300lb paper in acrylic, watercolour or mixed media. Each painting will measure 19x28cm. Mounted size: 30x40cm.

I will be working mostly in close proximity to my studio and where I can, further afield.

You will be able to follow my progress on Facebook: Art of Carole Baker and Twitter: @CaroleBakerArt and I will update my website regularly.

Weekend of 1-3 April 2016 – I spent last weekend with very good friends catching up and doing lots of walking in and around Northmoor in Oxfordshire – a beautiful part of the country. Our long walk took us across meadows and along the Thames river path, through locks and nature reserves. The Red Lion at Northmoor was our dinner stop and the sketch below is of Pinkhill Nature Reserve from the hide.
